The Ideas

Idea 7

Create stronger, seamless links between education and employment.

Education in work, and work in education creates more satisfying workplaces. By constantly asking “Who are you? And where are you going?” we can create a platform that places work experience into the Year 9, 10 College and University curriculum. As the program advances, when students become employed they can offer their services as mentors, creating a cycle of involvement and engagement for lifelong learning.

  • This is important but there are a few necessary considerations. Pursuit of pure academic achievement must remain recognised. Work experience must not become, as in USA, an excuse for cheap labour and must be truly relevant: there is an economic cost to providing work experience that employers must be willing to bear.
